DIMENSION & SCOPE:
The Pension Associate is responsible for the service delivery of Pension services to Client participants.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process and deliver vendor retirement plan calculations and correspondence.
Provide data maintenance for employee data, as required.
Provide vendor calculations for all terminated employees who are vested in a retirement plan.
Process and distribute pension vesting notifications to term vested employees.
Calculate interest payment calculations for pension payments in lieu of retroactive payment. (e.g., new ERISA requirement in USA in 2004).
Process retirement and executive deferral plan disbursements.
Provide second tier inquiry resolution.
Complete research to assist Client regarding any legal action or challenges relating to pension plans and payments by providing requested information.
Process pension paperwork required locally, regionally or nationally and communicate to appropriate parties (e.g. QDROs [Qualified Domestic Relations Order] and DROs [Domestic Relations Order] for the United States). Responds to inquiries related) to benefits, payment options and the ramifications of specific benefit elections.
Provide reporting, employee notifications, pre-retirement counseling kits and disbursements.
Coordinate the processing of contributions and interest calculations.
Prepare pension records for archival required.
Complete review of required documentation and setup of pension payments.
EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in related field from a four-year college
OR
University with one to three years related experience;
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prefer candidate who is pursuing the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation or WorldatWork’s Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Primary responsibility is day-to-day interaction between 401(k) plan administrators and recordkeeper.
-Reconcile funding account against payroll.
-Provide all necessary details to plan administrators supporting funding.
-Interaction with plan administrators in Puerto Rico -- Spanish not required, but knowledge of language would enhance communications.
-Ability to resolve issues for plan participants.
3-5 years or more years in human resources experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
3-5 years years experience with Pension plans.
Solid customer service experience. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements for Pension plan(s) administration.
Effective written, oral and presentation skills and ability to work with all levels of employees.
Ability to interact and work effectively as a productive team member.
Must have proficiency with various software applications including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Able to organize and prioritize workload in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented and rapidly changing business environment.
Ability to think and act strategically, with the ability to anticipate trends and assess consequences accurately.
